Emergency PERMITTING

Hopefully a catastrophic weather event will never visit our beautiful Low Country area. Preparedness is essential as once again we are entering the season when natural disasters such as hurricane, tropical storm, tornado, and flooding most likely occur

Imagine after a declared "state of emergency" not being allowed to rebuild your existing home or business? "Rapid Recovery Disaster Preparedness" has simply and inexpensively assisted over 100 property owners avoid this potential situation.

The Town of Hilton Head Island has enacted a procedure called "Emergency Permitting". This procedure allows the rebuilding of existing homes and businesses including any current and/or future non-conforming features "to a state or condition that existed prior to the disaster without the necessity of a full review..." under Land Management Ordinance. A non-conforming building or home issue may be its use, size, setback, a canopy, a deck, or a site feature such as a buffer, parking, pool, etc. The "Emergency Permitting" procedure applies to homes in gated communities as well. New construction must comply with all applicable FEMA and building codes.

Completing the "Emergency Permitting" procedure may be as important as the insurance carried on your home or business. "Rapid Recovery Disaster Preparedness" has completed the "Emergency Permitting" procedures for over 100 properties. We can also digitally document interiors, valuables, artwork, important papers, etc.
